A few helpful time management tips that real estate agents should use.

We all know that our success depends on the actions we take each day. With most other careers, you can just clock in and out, but the real estate business isn’t like that. Sometimes you have to work those extra long hours to get to your next closing.

That’s precisely why time management and proper scheduling are so important, and all successful real estate agents are experts on the topic. If you’re just starting out or don’t quite have a feel for the proper way to manage your time, I have a few tips to share that should help you:

1. Time block your calendar and your daily schedule. At the beginning of the year, I start blocking out time for any vacations, seminars, or conferences I’ll have. This calendar is available to everyone on my team, so they know exactly when I will and won’t be available.

After that, I’ll block out my daily routine and decide what my mornings and afternoons will look like. It’s important to remember that if you don’t set aside time for important tasks, they won’t get done. That’s why you have to block out time for those activities first.

“Sticking to a routine is ideal.”

2. Delegate less meaningful tasks, if possible. We all end up trying to do too much, but it’s incredibly important to delegate in real estate. This isn’t always a possibility, especially for new or solo agents. However, if you’re able to work on a team that has in-house transaction coordinators or ISAs, use that to your advantage so you can focus on generating new business.

3. Consistency is key. No matter how you set up your schedule or block your time, sticking to a routine is ideal. The more you go through that routine, the more effective you’ll be and the more business you’ll bring in.

I hope these tips are helpful to you. If you have questions about best scheduling practices, time management, or anything else related to the real estate business, don’t hesitate to reach out via phone or email. I would love to help you.
